It is based on ion-molecule reactions occurring in a flow tube and detection of the resulting ions by mass spectrometry.

 

  ACE1100 IMR-MS works by introducing a sample gas stream into a flow tube, where it is mixed with a known concentration of a reagent gas. The resulting ions react with the sample molecules as they pass through the tube, producing characteristic productions. These ions are then detected by a mass spectrometer, which can identify and quantify the sample components based on their mass-to-charge ratios.
